THE EMPIRE. MABEL TALIAFERRO IN "THE JURY OF FATE." The change of programme to be presented at the Empire to-night is headed by "The Jury of Fate," a splendid Metro feature with Mabel Taliaferro in the leading role. "The Jury of Fate" is a picture story of the big Canadian woods, of the turbulent St. Lawrence River, a journey through a veritable paradise of natural beauty. A story of tlie great outdoors, "The Jury of Fate" also tells of a virile love, and the unselfish desires to seo happiness prevail. It is a rapidly moving story, full of . action ilial appeals. Magnificent scenery, mighty mountains, and majestic rivers wliieli suddenly leap down the l'ocks m the form of snowy cascades-, make of the Metro wonderplay, "The Jury of Fate" a true travel-picture to which is added a supreme love story. The story .is placed in the Canadian mountains. There are beautiful views of the St. s Lawrence River and the thousand islands. Into this natural background fits perfectly the winsome personality of Jeanne Labordie (Mabel Taliaferro) contrasted with which is that of lie! sickly, wilful brother Jacques, also played by the versatile star. Remarkable photography shows brother and sister at the same time, by a clever use of double exposure. On the same programme will be shown the second series of tlie "Great Pendleton Round-up," and the sixth episode of "Peg 0' the Ring."

EVERYBODY'S. ALICE JOYCE IN "AN ALABASTER BOX." Original in every way is me story told in ''An Alabaster Box," the Greater Vitagraph feature screening at Everybody's to-night, and to-morrow. Alice Joyce returns to her former glories in this truly great play. > Andrew Bolton was the leading citizen of a country town, ajid his speculations failed, involving the town in heavy loss, and leading him to disgrace and imprisonment. The townspeople, instead of bestirring (hemselves, spend their time in reviling the memory of Andrew Bolton, and theplace falls into decay. Then Lydia Orr comes to live there—a young beautiful and wealthy girl. She buys the Bolton homestead and spends money lavishly, but scandal soon speaks evil of her. When at the last Andrew Bolton, his mind affected by his long imprisonment, comes home the people find out that Lydia is his daughter They rush to the house intent on mischief, and there occurs a tremendously dramatic scene when the old man faces them down. The play is crowded with clever human touches, the committee of ladies of the Church bazaar being most lifelike. A line supporting cast of genuine strength, beautiful settings and excellent photography, all mark this Vitagraph drama as one of the best yet. The supporting pictures include the second series of the famous "Bairnsfather's War Cartoons", nnd it is interesting to note that these nation-wide popular drawings are exclusive to this theatre.
