SEVENTH C 1 DRAFT.
NEW PLYMOUTH QUOTA. The New Plymouth quota far the seventh CI draft left for camp yesterday morning. The men were farewelied at the station in the customary manner, there being a fair sprinkling of the general public to see the men away. The members of the Citizens' Band attended and enlivened the proceedings with appropriate selections up till the time the train left. The Mayor (Mr. C. H. Burgess), in a short farewell address to the men, said their circumstances were probably well known to many people. Personally lie had a good deal of sympathy for the CI men. In many cases they were men who had volunteered in the early stages nf the war, and having .been turned down—some ( of them 011 more than one occasion—had assumed additional rein the belief that they were not fit for active service. They were now ordered into camp, and there was even yet a chance that they mignt, be again rejected and returned to their homes. To those of them wVo should pass through the training and reach ll'c front, he expressed the wishes of the citizens for their good luck and a "» f - ''turn, and in the name of the community wished them all God-speed. Addressing the general public present, the Mayor said (iie country would continue to find all the men necessary, but he reminded them of the appeal of the Minister of Finance for the O'/o million loan, and said the people at home must find the money to equip the men who were being sent awav- He urged everyone to subscribe to the loan before tile closing

H. L. Oliver, L. A. Parker, V. Rush, S. ,T. Rodgers. X. Sadler, H. L. Sole, L. W. Tunneclifl'e, C. F. A. Waters, R A. Wall and B. B. G'. Wildermoth. \V H. McAlpine was to join up at Eltham.
The Stratford draft was farewelled by a large number of people at the station, and 011 the call of his Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. W. McMillan) three hearty cheers were given for the men. The Ladies' Patriotic Committee representatives distributed hold«alls to the recruits prior to entraining. Among those entraining at Eltham were Privates E. W. Harrison, A. E. Stephens, 11. Martin and W J. Melville. Previous to the arrival of the train Mr. L. B. Grimstone briefly addressed the men, wishing them God speed and a safe return. Hearty cheers were given for the departing soldiers. The Hawera men, comprising the 7th Reinforcements to the CI camp, were given an official send-off.
