TARIKI, (From Our Own Correspondent). There wag' a very large attendance at tlie farewell social and dance to Privates Evan Jones, W. Hucker and W. Hogan on the sth inst., and the accommodation of the school was hardly sufficient (the public hall is still in the possession of til? Dairy Co.). Nevertheless a very pleasant and enjoyable evening was spent. Besides dancing and cards there was an attractive programme of musical and other items, the principal contributors being: Songs, Miss D. Tavlor, Miss W. Kilsbv, .Mr. P., Hancock, Mr. A. FLaurence; reading, Mr.. ,T. Hucker. Mr. J. Hunwick acted as M.C. Mr. A. E. Laurence, chairman of the Patriotic- 1 Committee, presented the three soldiers with wallets, and, on behalf of the Ladies' Committee, each with a bag of i comforts. He concluded a short speech by saying he felt sure they would fully maintain the high reputation that New . Zealanders had gained at the front, and, after wishing them God's speed and a safe return, called for three cheers, wl 'eli were enthusiastically accorded. Private W. Hogan, in a short, soldierly ■P''°oh, on behalf of himself and comrade?, thanked tho Tarlki people for their kind presents and good wishes and j also for the pleasant evening, Misses i F.
