BOWLING.
THE MANAWATU TOURNAMENT. MASON IN THE FINAL* (Special to News.) Palmorston N., Last Night. The best game of the tournament was that between Smart and Eraser (Wanganui) in the semi-final. Smart was five to the good at the seventeenth head, but Eraser's men kept going and the last head saw Eraser wanting two to tie. When the skips went down Smart was lying three, and the ease looked hopeless. Fraser, coming down on an open draw with his first bowl, just missed trailing the jack. Smart played for position. Fraser drew again, trailed the jack perfectly, and lay tw'o, evening ujp the scores- The extra head was very exciting. The Wanganui lead possessed the jack with 'his first shot and a -toucher with the next shot removed him, and so it went on, every shot telling until Eraser's number three lay the shot. The skip drew two perfect shots, which Smart, driving twice, failed to remove, -ind the game ended: Fraser 22, Smart 19. The final will probably rest between Mason (Pihama) and Fraser (Wanganui). Perry has seven 'heads to play against Mason, but appears hopelessly behind, having scored only 8 to 20.

The winners of the sections are as follows: Section A, Rowe (Stratford)} Sectio7i B, Branch (Inglewood); Section C, W. Sampson (Waitara).
