COMPULSOKY METHODS. (From Our Own Correscponileiit). Wellington, March 25. •Sir Joseph Ward, apcaking at the Commercial Traveller* Club In-day, had something to say about financial shirkera. He said that there were some people, of large moans and moderate means, who had done nothing to support the war loans, and they were not going to be overlooked. It would nerve them right if tlieir names were placed on re. cord by the Legislature of New Zealand, so that the whole country would know they had not been doing their duty. If a man who was physically fit shirked the duty imposed upon him in connection with the war. knew him for what he was. The financial shirker was not entitled to any more consideration than the other sort of shirker. The Minister added that to his own knowledge there were people in New Zealand who had failed to do tlieir duty in connection with the war loans and who, if necessary, would bo compelled to do their duty. Ho emphasised that the present, war loan was not the last om>. The Government would want more money for war purposes even if the war ended six months lienee, and the money must be found within New Zealand
