TO NELSON DIOCESE. By Telegraph.—Press Association Nelson, Last Nigbft • At a meeting of the Diocesan Standing Committee to-day, Bishop Sadlier oa-( nounced largo benefactions to the Anglh can Church under the will of the lata Miss Frances Marsden. After providing for various personal bequests, the testa- ■ tor devises sums of £IO,OOO for the ewe- .■ : tion of the principal spire of tho new! cathedral, £SOOO to the clergy pension funds, £SOOO to the home mission fund, and certain other sums to be assigned to church purposes at the absolute discretion of tlie bishop. Special sums are ' bequeathed for tho erection of a church' house for the diocese and the rebuilding. , of "Bishopsdale," tho bishop's residence.; *': The testatrix's house in Brougham Street . is devised for the benefit of the diocesov At present values the bequest to tho diocese will now, and in the immediate fin t'ure, amount to about £50,000, and ulti-* mately the diocese will benefit to a larger extent. Out of the funds placed at hia disposal the bishop lias offered £IO,OOO to the Cathedral Erection Board, condU tional upon £30,000 being contributed U} the diocese within five years.
