Mr. Milne, general manager of the Taranaki Farmers' Meat Company, who recently underwent a serious operation in a private hu.-pital, expects to be about again shortly, Mrs. 7j. W. Wells, of Mnngorei, has received advico her- son, Uiheman D. Wells, has been removed t-j V- all on-on - Thames Hospital. P.ifleman Wells has received wounds in the right arm. Mr and Mrs A. Coleman, Bullor Street, have advised that their son, Private 11. Coleman, was admitted to the iS'ew Zealand General Hospital, Codiord, on March 12, owing to (rouble from an old gunshot wound in the left hand. Airs. F. Hickey, Glenn Hoad, Ka.upoko nui, has just received word from headquarters that her son, Private E. -J. Hickey, of the Main Body, was admitted lo the military hospital, Tooting, on March 5, suffering from debility. Sir James Allen semis his sympathy, and
hopes for a speedy recovery. Mr. Straek, of Hawera, last week received a cable from his son, Lieutenant Con, Strack, who is si field Secretary in Flanders with the Y.M.C.A., stating that lie had just completed the most strenuous year of his life, waH most happy in his work, arid was still going strong. The cable was dated February (j, so was just six weeks on the journey. Old resident* of Wanganui (says the Chronicle) will regret to hear of the death of Mrs. 11. C. Aamodt, at the ripe age of 88. She arrived in New Zealand in ISGB, and had, been a resident of Wangamii ever since. She is survived by three sons and three daughters, two or lu-r sons (Charles and Chris) having died some years ago. - The surviving family are Messrs. William, Thomas and Herman Aamodt, and Mesdames Johnson (Wellington), Ilobb (Wellington), and I'arsons (Hav.'era).
