By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Napier, Last Night. The Waikareraoana hydro-electric scheme delegates returned to-day, after n line voyage from Wairoa. A public meeting was held in the Municipal Theatre to-night, at which nil expressed their willingness to support the scheme. Mr. H. Hall (Mayor) announced that ho had received information that theßurvey of the line to the lake would he commenced within a month.
ARRIVAL OF TRANSPORTS. Wellington, Last Night. Transports, 85 and 96, with Wellington, Canterbury and Otago men, in drafts 147, 148 and 149, arrived this afternoon. The South Island men left this evening by one of the transports. DEPENDENTS OF SAILORS. Wellington, Last Night. Cabinet to-day agreed to make temporary provision for dependents of men of the mercantile marine losing their lives. The Board of Trade pension is payable when the man's loss is definitely proved, but some- time elapses before payments reach dependents in New Zealand.
