ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Eltahm, March lfl. The Catholic social held in the Town Hall last night attracted a very good attendance of the public, visitors being present from all parts of the district. A very fine programme was submitted, the items by the Stratford performers being much enjoyed .by all present. The programme included a solo, "For the Green," by Miss L. Sullivan, a very promising r.oprano, whoso item created very favorable comment. Other items included solos, "Mother o' Men," by Mrs. Massev; Miss B. Sheahan. "The Little Irish Girl''; duet, "A Lonesome Melody," Misses Sullivan and Shea-han; Mr. G-. T". Walters, "Heroes of the Dardanelles." Mrs. Meßeth's extravaganza, "Mother Me-C-hree," was also much enjoyed, the dancing of the sprightly sextette being a novelty all too rarely witnessed. The hall was in fine order for the dancing, which was .kept going till long past midnight, all present retiring with pleasant recollections 'of the 1918 function.

The cadets' hall, held earlier in the week,, also attracted a good attendance of the public. The youthful soldiers had everything in apple-pie order for their guests, who voted the dance one of the most enjoyable of the season. There was some fair shooting at 500 yards. Rifleman F Vincent, a r ex-sergeant in the old Eltham KiflK, put up a score of 40 out of 50 whilst the veteran Tommv Kin? showed that his nerves and sieht were still good m scoring 45. Tom Narbey, always a aood shot, and with Gallipoli experience had no difficulty in finding the target, the shootin? ffencrallv was , irood. a """ (5 points) separating: about nine competitors Perhaps the Hawem or jlnslewood clubs will issue a challenge m«en. • 6
