BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL.

ANNUAL SWIMMING SPORTS. The New Plymouth Boys' High School held their annual swimming sports at tho breakwater yesterday. The weather was ideal for the occasion, and In the afternoon there was a large attendance of parents anil friends of tlio hoys. The programme was started at It a.m., and events wore got otf witli excellent despatch, being, in fact, ahead of time up to the luncheon adjournment. The 30 yards open handicap was the biggest race of tho day, so far as the number of entrants was concerned, there being MS boys in the race, which was swum in fifteen heats and a final. In tho (10 yards open handicap there were 7S entries. The 2011 yards (open) race was a keen contest. Henderson led most of the way, hut was beaten in a close finish by ltawson. McKay and C. Smith finished a dead heat alter a great tussle for third place. The diving events created a great deal of interest, while the greasy boom walking afforded much amusement. The success of Dueker In the plate diving, wherein he secured the whole of the twolra plates thrown in, wan loudly applauded. The programme concluded with an intcr-form relay race, which was won by Jfurni Vlb, after,: a strenuous effort. .The championship events are to take place at the public births °n Wednesday evening next.

The committee desires to express Its gratitude to the Harbor Board, and to tho members of the board's staff for their assistance In facilitating the carrying out of the programme. Tho officials were as follows: Judges, Messrs. 3. ltockel, D.< W. Robertson and J. Swanson; starter, Mr. W. 11. Moyes; marksmen, Messrs. A. It. Ryder and C. 11. Wynyard; recorder, Mr. H. E. Glover; committee, Messrs. C. A. McKlnney (chairman), McKay and Howell (secretaries), Osborne, G. Boon and Saxton. Following are the results:

100 Yards (open).—First heat: G. Boon 1, AUemau 2. Second heat: McKay 1, Buchanan 2. Third heat: O'Halloran 1, Clemow 2. Fourth heat: Smith 1, Mannix 2. Final: O'Halloran (scr.) 1 1, McKay (scr.) 2. 30 Yards Open (148 entries).—K. Neal 1, Penman 2, Hutohen 3.

Now Boys' Race (30 yards).—Mannix 1, Brackebush 2, Crapper 3.

Greasy Boom.—Wood 1, Kyngdon 2. Plato Dive (12 plates).—Dueker (12) 1, Renaud (11) 2, Jackson (10) 3. Learners' Race (20 yards) .—First heat: Smith 1, C. Brown 2, G. Bell 3. Second heat: Jackson 1, McLaren 2, Whlto 3. Third heat: Herbert 1, Bcrridge 2. Final: Herbert (2sec), Smith-(2 soc) and Brown (scr.) dead heat. Back Stroke (30 yards).—First heat: Osborne 1, Barak 2. Second heat: Saiton 1, Burkhurdt and Roberts (dead heat) 2. Third heat: Brunette 1, I'opo 2. Final: Osborne (4 sees) 1, Roberts (5 sees) and Stixton (2 sees) dead heat 2.

High Dive.—B. Boon (0% points) 1, Forbes (5% points) 2. 200 Yards Open.—Hawson (Csec) 1, Henderson (3sec) 2, C. Smith (4sec) and McKay (scr.) dead float 3.
