The Compensation Court, composed,of Justice, Chapman'and two assessors, concluded to-day the hearing of the case of Kiehiirdsou v. City Council, which aroused much local interest. The corporation two years ago acquired, .under the Public Works Act, pieces of land on the banks of the Maitai River for bathing purposes, being a portion of the portion of the Maitai estate, for which Ihe owners now claimed compensation. Claimants assessed the value of the land :ind compensation under several headings at £<iSu3 His Od. After a lengthy hearing of the evidence the uourt awarded claimants £905.
