DISTRICT NEWS.

KAPUNL* (FronTOur Own Correspondent). On Friday evening a popular social was held in tlio Kapuni Hall in aid of funds for the building. Mr. J. Patterson was chairman while Messrs W. Johnson and C. Patterson carried out the duties of M.C's to the satisfaction of all. Mr. T. Gardiner was encored for-his song. Miss Gardiner supplied capital dance music, extras being played by Misses Eliason, Spiers and Cately. The ladies as usual provided a nice supper. In the afternoon the scholars and parents assembled at the school to witness the annual presentation of prizes, which were handed to each pupil in the school bv Mr. Leslie. Afternoon tea was handed round, the children cheering their teachers and the school committee. The National Anthem was sung by all present. The grounds and gardens were looking very pretty, and showed great care oh the part of teachers and scholars.
