'•The post ofiiee savings bank figures for the Dominion during the month of •January disclose the fact that the business done by that important institution is still steadily increasing. Not only did deposits ( £1,375,933) and withdrawals ( £1,007.255) exceed the corresponding figures for the same month in l!>17, but the excess of deposits over withdrawals reached the large amount, of £36S,tS7R, as compared with £352.118 in January 1!)17. These figures may be regarded as eminently satisfactory, as showing there is a considerate accumulation of small sums of money which will be available for investment by depositors in the coming issue of the war loan.
