Wellington, March ."> Representatives of the wool industry eonievred with the Prime Minister to<kiy, and it appears that substantial agreement was reached regarding certain proposals that have been made by the Imperial Government all'ecting hides and skins, and also slipe wool. The details of the new arrangement have not vet been announced. Mr. Massev subsequently stated that the delegates had met him in a very fair spirit, and had shown tiicir readiness to make reasonable concessions in response to suggestions made by the Imperial authorities. There is to lie uf> change as far as slipe wool is coiicWd, lint the'priee paid by the 'lmperial Government for linles and skins in New Zealand is to be reduced. It. is generally realised that the existing prices are to a large extent speculative. The importance of skins iind pelts has been increased by war conditions, and prices have fluctuated markedly in London. The prices of hides and skins have shown a slight downward tendency all over the world of late, owing hi part to the improved co-operative buying arrangements of the Allies, and the change naturally atl'eets New Zealand rates, 'the dale of operation of the new "'•ale ot prices is still to be settled. The producers wish the change deferred until ne-close of the present season, in order to avoid complications in connection with buying arrangement.! already made.
