FLOODS ON THE EAST COAST.

LARGE EXTENT OF COUNTRY INUNDATED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. Only showers fell locally during the night, but the rivers remain very high. The Ngaruaroro is still overflowing, and the Wainia is inundating a large extent of country. • No stock losses are reported. Workmen managed to prevent further overflow of the Tutaekuri at Meanee. All the roads at Hastings are impassable, except via Fenihill. The sea has moderated considerably, facilitating the overflow of the river flood. FLOODS AT GISBORNE. Gisborae, March 0. Very heavy rain inland caused the flood waters to rise steadily last night, and a greater area of flats in the country is inundated. This morning the flood is subsiding.
