(From Oiiv Own Correspondent. The ordinary montiily of the Town lioard was held on Monday evening. Those present were: Messrs I.'. A Trotter (chairman), J- P. Burton, K. Thorpe, S. M. Cornish, 0. \V. The matter has been hold up too long and the proposed lighting scheme is at a standstill in consequence. Mr.. MaeFarlanc, lessee of the town lighting scheme, intimated that he had forwarded four machines, and was drafting the lease as between himself and the board preparatory to confirmation of same. The Horticultural Society held a successful autumn show on Wedne>tiav. The principal prize-takers in cut blooms were Mesdames Moore, Mouri. Hodgson, and Thorpe, Mrs. Hodgson winnin? I he championship for roses. Mr. G. lbiylis won most points in potato classes, and Mr. ('ox, senr.. most points in vegetable scct'on. In cooking classes Mrs. Guy, Miss West, Mrs. Newman, and Mrs. Richards were the principal prize-winners, and Miss Fearon secured most points i n nrej serves. The decorative prizes were | divided between Mc-rh'iucs. Pettigrcw, Hodgson, Thorpe, and Miss fiearv.
