(From Our Own Correspondent). rp, . „ Wellington, March 1. ■ The health of the troops in camp at the present time is particularly good. njeasles epidemic has subsided, onl? owe additional case having been reported since February 10. Two'inmates of the camp hospitals are on the serious list, but each of the men is suffering from a disease that cannot be attributed to military life. They arc men whose internal. weaknesses' were not detected when they entered camp. Critics of the Defence Department are fond of quoting instances of recruits who have been put into training, despite the fact that they were really sick men. The ffledical officers, who have no interest at all m passing unfit men, insist that a small percentage of error in their work is unavoidable. Medical science is not yet an e\«ct science. Two specialists of tne highest standing may examine a man and fail to agree si's to his physical condition. The only conclusive test in |some cases in actual service in the camp:,. If every doubtful case was declared unfit, many fit men would escapo service. This has been said often, but there seems to 1* need for its iteration.
