AUROA. (From Our Own Covresposdent.) One of the largest, and most enthusiastic audiences (hat has been seen for years assembled in the Auroa hall on Wednesday evening to hear the Hordettb Savages, a large Hawera Concert Party, perform. The party is touring the district to raise funds for the "Big Push" eft'ort. The programme was the best that has been submitted here, and from Ihe talent shown the Hawera llorieHe Savages may be sure of a warm welcome asd a Immper house wherever tliey may appear. Several of the performers would do credit to any operatic company. The following were the items rendered:— Opening chorus, "So Long, Letty"; "Blighty,"' Mr. A. C. Rowlinson (encored) ; "La belle Parisienne," Mrs. F. Wylds; "Everybody Wants to be a Soldier," Mr. Trim (encored); "Mother •Machree," Miss denkins (encored); "Hollo, Hawaii."' M'ks Kc-lly (encored); "My Dreams,"' Mr. Lamb; '-When the Hand Played 'Home, Sweet Home','" Miss Reilly (encored). During a brief interval the flag was auctioned by Mr. Easton, of Hawera, when over €SO was realised in the room. The programme continued with 'There's A Land,'' Mr. TTooker; "That's What ihe Brass Hand Played," Miss Oamubell (encored;: "Yankee Doodle," Mr. Oormley (double encore); "The Village Pump.'' Mr. Vinuioomhe (encored); "Toast to Erin," Mrs. Wylds; "Watchman. What of (he Night,'" Miss .tenkins, ami Mr. Honker: "Kipl'me Walk." Miss Kelly (encored); ".Amillier Little Drink,'' Mr. Rowlinson (encored l: "When You Com-:' Home." Miss .Tonkins (encored); "Trail that Leads (o Home," Mr. Kirk); "Make a Man of You," Mi~s Campbell; "Tnllera I ar," Mr. Gorniley (double encore). An efficient orchestra played the accompaniments, addiiiT greatly to the enjoyment of the < vening. Those playing were Mi*s Purser (piano*. Miss Robinson (violin), and Messrs Stan. Robinson, 0. F. Rmtlli, and Sa::or .Tones:' The "Savages" looked verv effective in fancy costumes.
