«*» THE EMPIRE KTHEr, BARRYMORE IN "THE LIFTED VEIL," AND "THE PENDLETON ROUND-UP." A splendid programme was introduced at the Empire theatre last night, the principal attractions being the Metro wonderplay "The Lifted Veil," and the big sporting picture of "The Pendleton Round-up." "The Lifted Veil" is a screen version of Basil King's great novel, and the celebrated star, Ethel Barrymore, lias the exsicting part of the heroine. Clorinda Gildersleeve. The story of Clorinda Gildersleeve, a rich society girl who drifts into an affair with the husband cf her friend, is a vivid picture of the temptation that might befall anyone.' Her subsequent .sorrow, her endeavors to seek peace and happiness and her ultimate victory make a powerful and interesting story that strongly appeals to all. "The Pendleton Round-up" is a picture that will in> terest anyone,, being a very attractive display of the work and skill of the happy-go-lucky American cowboy. Every year competitions are held and 'the cowboys from every state and ranch throughout the country nominate and support their" respective' champions for these thrilling events. ' EVERYBODY'S LAST APPEARANCE OF ROBERT : WARWICK TN "THE MAN WHO FORGOT" One who had lost his memorv 'completely through the abuse of alcohol,'is the central figure of "The Man Who Forf'ol," the World Film drama shown at Everybody's last evening. Robert Warwick portrays the hero,'and his work is superb. The story opens in a Shanghai opium den and Hashes quickly to a great American city, where the victim is enabled to make a new start in life. His experience makes him have the drink evil with his whole soul, and he becomes the leader of the American National Prohibition movement. He naturally incurs the enmity of those who are engaged in defending the trade, a»d they set about procuring his downfall. Ho loves the daughter of a senator who is opposed to him on the question, and the father forbids him to the house. Since ,he can only look back five years and remember his past, lie is iii a hopeless position, and faces a blank outlook. Then lie is suddenly denounced by a woman who claims to be his wife, and he is unable to deny it. However, the cause he is laboring for is victorious, and all comes right in the end. The drama • is splendidly produced, and Doris Kenyon is an adorable heroine. The final screening takes place to-night. TO-MORROW. At the matinee to-morrow Ethel Clayton and Madge Evans will lie starred in the World Film feature "The Web or \ Desire." The 17th episode of "The Iron Claw" will also be shown on the programme.
