■■■■' "* FOII IUCU CROSS FUNDS. Cliristcliurcli, Feb. '23. A motor carnival was held to-day in perfect weather, the proceeds being in aid of tin; lied Cross. There was a 'huge crowd present. 'During the afternoon an exhibition of flying was given 'by the instructor at the Canterbury Aviation School. Results: Lightweight Handicap (eight mileß). — A. Woodman (Cliristcliurcli) 1, J- A. Karton (Timaru) 2, J. Jones (Palmerston North) 3. Won comfortably in Jmin 57 3-ssec. Heavyweight Handicap (ten miles). — H. R. Crawley (Carterton), 20see, 1; LMangliam 2. This race was marred by <W accident and a couple of mishaps. Crawley won in excellent time. Only one other man finished. Time, Omin 17 4-ssec, South Island Lightweight Championship (eight miles).—F. Haworth (Christchurch) 1, J- Dawber (Palmerston N.) 2, P. A- Foden (Timaru) 3. Won by 150 yards. Time, Omin 48 3-ssec. South Island Middleweight Championship (ten miles). —A. Woodman (Christchurch) 1, .1. A. Karton (Timaru) 2, K.' .f. Jones 3. Won by ten yards. Time, Klmin <! 3-!ssec. Australasian Heavyweight Championship (fifteen miles).—P.
