EVERYBODY'S LAST NIGHT'OF MARY MILES MINTER IN "PERIWINKLE." Adorable Mary Miles Minter captivated the densely'-pncketl house at Everybody's on Saturday in her latest feature success, "Periwinkle." This Mutual masterpiece provides her with a role of emotional power and intensity, and thq dainty little artist fills it capably and with astonishing fdrce. She portrays a girl who is a waif pf the sea, brought up in a coastguard station as the idol of the place. She is garbed most of the time in oilskins, and yet without the usual furbelows and feminine sundries contrives to look her prettiest throughout the story. This programme, which is finally showing to-night, also includes the Kith episode of "The Iron Claw," and with only four more chapters to go this picture is | getting more and more exciting. TO-MORROW. HANDSOME GEORGE WALSH IN "THE ISLAND OP DESIRE." Jungle hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and terrific earthquakes combine with splendid acting -and gripping story to make George Walsh's latest picture, "The Island of Desire," the most thrilling motion picture yet produced. This picture will be screened to-morrow and Tuesday. EMPIRE. ' A BIG TOPICAL SUBJECT TO-NIGHT. "THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION." Probably there could be no more Interesting subject for a picture at the present tiine th|p scenes showing just what is going on in Russia. One has a very vague idea of the actual happenings lead- ' ing up to and causing the overthrow of the Russian monarchy, and it Is of the highest interest to' actually witness many of the more Important events that eventually brought about the abdication. A film actually showing many of these will be iiitroduoed at the Empire tonight, and will continue to-morrow and Wednesday. The picture was taken after r permission had been obtained from M. Korensky, and the operators exposed themselves to considerable personal risk in filming somp q( the more dramatic developments. It is claimed that the picture is the sole record of one of the greatest events in the world's history, and It certainly must bo admitted that the film is a unique and remarkable achievement. Another important item on the bill la a film called "Oriental Love," which is sprung upon tho house as something in the nature of a surprise packet. The ninth episode of "The Secret Kingdom" and the latest Pathe Gazette help tq increase the popularity of the fare.
