SWIMMING CERTIFICATES.
WEST END SCHOLARS. Tbe boys of the West Knd Schooi swam at the municipal baths on Thursday morning for the N.Z. Amateur Swimming Association's distance certificate. Tho best performance was that of C. Hill, who covered the distance of 2>/ 4 miles, being in the water 2hrs. 30 min. He swam 117 lengths of the baths. There were -2<! competitors- Following are the details: One mile and over.—C- Hill 2 miles 440 yards, J], J)<-;tvo ] mile 00 yardß, L. Ilerdman 1 mile, H. Robinson 1 mile. Under one mile—E. Ramptoii 530, if. Hughes 440, A. Shaw -110, C. Ward 440, F. Newell 430, C Greiner 400. 1). Jillett MO, D. Jury 220, B. Welsh 220, L. Inch 100, A. Bensley 100. GIRLS' COMPETITION. The girls of tho West End School also competed in the distance tests, and placed some excellent performances to their credit. There were 21 competitors and all except three gained certificates, One girl swam two miles, which must be considered an excellent performance, five others completed a mile or over and seven swam half a mile or more. Following are the details:— One mile and over.—Beryl Morrice 2 miles, Mona Staite 1 - o miles, Doris Barnden 1 mile, Violet Hurle 1 mile, Dora Ogier 1 mile, May Smart I mile.
