SCOTTISH WOMEN'S HOSPITAL.
TO-DAY'S APPEAL, The New Plymouth effort on behalf o? the Scottish Women's Ilospitfil fund will be made to-day, when the takings from the Red Cross Mart will be wholly devoted to that deserving object. The Scottish ladies of the district who will be in charge of the mart to-day have bee* working hard for the effort, with the result tlint the mart will open \vitb shelves and tables heavily pf.ocked with a tempting array, in particular, of all those home-made dainty food dishes that are iji such keen demand everywhere, and in additipn there will be found some essentially •'Scotch" delicacies. As well as the mart there are to be a number of other stalls in the streets, these being under the control of ihe Women's (Patriotic Committee. They will comprise fancy goods, fruit, vegetables, flower! and sweets. The local branch of .the Red Cross Society made a handsome donation of £IOO to, start off with, and other donations have been received, so that it may bo said that to-day's effort starts ofl on a very good handicap. One handsome donation came to hand yesterday in the shape of a prize collie dog from the Hawera show, and the animal will be for sale at the mart to-dav.
