Mr. C. F. Boulton, of Franklev road, lias received cable advice from the Defence Department that his son, Bflm. Fred. W. Boulton, was admitted-to YVn.l- - Hospital sulFering from' agunshot wound on the left shoulder received on February 13. The Minister of Justice (Hon- T. if. Wiltord) has appointed Mr. Edward J). Mosley, barrister and solicitor, of Cliristchurcli, to be one of the two relieving Stipendiary Magistrates whom Cabinet recently authorised him to appoint. In yestrday's casualty list the following Taranaki names appear:—Killed in action, Corpl. S. Hoby (F. H. Hoby, Bell Block, mother). Wounded, E. C. Barlow (H. Barlow, Mnnaia). Slightly wounded, remaining with unit. D. McQueen (A. McQueen, Stratford). The Hospital and progress report not severe eases, J. F. Barkla (Hawera), T. A. Patterson and S. N. Stewart (Stratford), and E. J. Woodward (Okato). Mr. C. Ranson, general manager of the Northern Steamship Company, and the Messrs Somors, shipping agents, Auckland, who went to Wellington with the Rarawa yesterday, visited Waitara in the morning. '•- Lieut. C. B. Lepper, of Lepperton. (Military Medal), who has been spending a few weeks on leave at home since his return from the front on duty, left by the mail train for Trentham yesterday, having been attached to the 37th Keinforcements. Mr. E. C. Hayden, of Hawera (as next of kin), has received intimation from the' Minister of Defence that his brother, Gilbert Hayden, has been awarded the D.C.M., and promoted to the rank of sergeant. He already possesses the Military Medal, which was won by him during the severe fighting in the Ypres area last year. Sergeant Hayden left New Zealand with the (ith lleinforceinents, was at Gallipoli up to the evacuation, and has been in France continuously since the New Zealand foree arrived there. By the last English mail he advised that he is in splendid health and good spirits, being on the eve of fourteen days' leave in England.
