ACCIDENT AT EAST END.
DEATH OF VICTIM. John William Taylor, blacknniith, of Warea, who met with an accident at the East End beach on Sunday, by diving into the river in shallow water, and thereby sustaining' injuries to his spine which caused paralysis, succumbed to his injuries in the New Plymouth Hospital during the early hours of Tuesday morning. ' An inquest'was opened yesterday afternoon, before the district coroner (Mr. A. Crooke, S.M.). Sergeant Trehey represented the police. Evidence of identification was given by James Wyatt, carBhed foreman for the New Plymouth tramways, who said he knew deceased. He was a blacksmith, and had worked for witness for about eight months in 1916. Witness had viewed the body at the morgue, and identified it as that of John William Taylor. The inquest was then adjourned sine die.
