The Evening Post, a bourgeois newspaper, spates that tlie 42nil Army Corps has been orderod to begin operations against the White .Guards in Finland, f-nrge detachments of Petrogjad troops are cn route to Viborg. The backbone of General Mannerheim'a White Guards is composed of several thousand Finns from Germany, who are well supplied with artillery. General Mannerheim commands about 00,000 men. BURNING UKRAINIAN CROPS. LOOKING TO GERMANY FOR HELP. Amsterdam, Feb. 18. The newspaper Germania asserts thftt the Bolsheviks are 'burning stocks of grain in the Ukraine as far as possible A German semi-official statement reports that the Ukrainian delegation at Brest LStovsk requested the German Government to make the following announcement to the German people:— "The Maximalists have undertaken a Holy War apinst the Ukrainian Socialists. This barbaric invasion seeks to destroy our independence. VVp are concentrating new forces in order to oppose the northern hordes. We look "for help to Germany in our struggle for existence bv protecting our northern frontier. We know qui* voice will be heard."
