MOTORING FATALITY AT HAWERA.

CAR OVERTURNS. THREE MEN PINNED BENEATH. (Special to Daily News.) Hawera, Last Night About 7.30 this evening Mr. R. D. Welsh, a Hawera solicitor, found near his residence, about a mile from here on the South road, a Dodge motor car overturned on the road. When assistance was obtained it was discovered that there were three men beneath the oar, who nroved to lie Messrs. George Smith (of Knpuni), John Cawson (of Normanby) and S. W. Monteath (a member of the Hawera staff of the Bank of New Zealand who e;me from Westport). When the unfortunate victims of the accident were taken from under the car it was founo that Mr. Monti nth was dead, and that Mr Cewson was so seriously injured that he was not expected to live through the night. Air. Smith wan unconscious, but later showed symptoms of reviving. There is no clue a's to what caused the disaster, as neither, of the two surviving occupants of the car could be questioned. It was Mr. Monteath's intention to leave for home on Wednesday next, prior to going into camp. Both Messrs. Cawson. and Smith were taken to - the Jawera Hospital, where all that is possible it being done for them.
