ROYAL LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE, A meeting of -the committee of the North Taranaki Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Socieiy was held at the Soldiers' Club last night. Mr. C. N. Christiansen presided, and those present were Misses White (2), Messrs J. Bennett, R. L. Mellroy, and 'P. A. Schwartz (secretary). Apologies for absence were reeeived from Messrs A. 11. Bullians and S. G. Smith. Mr. F. Darling, was elected a membe. of the centre. SCHOOLS LIFE-SAVING COMPETITION. Letters were received intimating that the Manaia, Oaomii, and Tataraimaka schools would not be able to compete In the life-saving competition. The setretary reported that there were II) teams in the junior and 12 teams in the senior competition. It was decided that the first rounds be held at luglcwood. Ilawera, and Eltham on March 1. New Plymouth on March 4 and o, aiul the, finals on the evening of March 8. It was resolved to hire the municipal baths for the finals and to charge fid admission. Mr, Christiansen was appointed judge, Mr. Bennett time-keeper, and Mr. Tt. L. Mellroy steward. MONTHLY EXAMINATIONS. Miss Cowling and Miss White were appointed examiners for the girls' clacses for the current month, Tt was decided to add the name'of Mr F. Darling to the list of instructors and examiners, and he and Mr. Christiansen were appointed examiners for the boys' classes. AWARDS. The foliowint, awards were made, the candidates having qualified by passing the. necessary examinations: Misses Z. Saxton and E. Carthew, medalli . na; Dr. W. R. Wade, award of merit. TABOR SHIELD COMPETITION.
