THE RAID ON LONDON. -A SECOND VISIT. London, Jan. 20. The Press Bureau report;.: —There was it furl her attack on London alter midnight. Bombs were dropped at MM in the morning. ALLEGED LOSSES. New York, Jan. 20. It is reported that 47 persons were killed ir. the London air raid. A PROLONGED ATTACK. London, Jan. 2fl. Many enemy aeroplane; were concerned in the raid, which was the moat prolonged yet experienced. The first attack lasted 2J hours and was renewed for three to four hours past midnight. Several machines penetrated the defences. British aviators sought to drive the enemy into anti-aircraft gunfire. Finally the enemy attempted to 'break off the fight, but was subjected to a severe anti-aircraft bombardment. The British machines, closely following the fleeing Germans, 'brought down one. THE CASUALTIES. Received Jan. 30, 0.40 p.m. London, Jan. 2!). Official.—ln last night's raid 14 men, 17 women and 10 children were killed, and 03 men, 59 women and 17 children were injured. All occurred in London, with the exception of 1 killed and 7 injured. The material damage was not serious. Cable Assoc, and Renter Received Jan. 30, B.SO p.m. London, Jan. 2l> Air raid official: Two groups of raiilers crossed the Essex coast and one group the Kent coast. They proceeded towards London. The latter dropped bombs on Thanet arid the Isle-of Shep(joy and crossed *ihe estuary of the Thames, approaching east Ijoihloii through Essex. About fifteen, participated in the attacks, and four or five reached the capital and bombed various districts. Later, other aeroplane?, crossed the Essex coast, one reaching' London. They dropped bombs. Two Flying Corps scouts, after a brief fight at close range., set fire to an enemy aeroplane oyer Essex, which fell iii flames, the crew of three being burned to death. All our machines returned safely. ANOTHER RAID ON LONDON. BOMBS DROPPED IN SUBURBS .... RAID STILL IN PROGRESS. Received *Jan. 31, 1-2.50 a.m. Vancouver, Jan. 30. Aeroplanes have fgain raided London. Received Jan. 31, 1.50 a.m. London, Jan. 30. The Press Bureau states that aeroplanes crossed the Essex and Kent coasts at 0.30 yesterday evening. None were reported to have reached the London defences, but bombs were reported to have been dropped in the outskirts. The raid is still in progress.
BRITISH DEFENSIVE PLANES. Received Jan. 30, 9.40 p.m. London, Jan. 30. In the House of Commons Mr. Macpherson stated that seventy British aeroplanes ascended against the raiders, and about ten raiders reached London. Some of the casualties were due to crowding raid shelters.'
