Hastings, Jan. 28. The Karamu stud dispersal sale opened to-day. There was a large attendance of buyers, and satisfactory prices were realised. In brood mares the highest price obtained was fiOO guineas for Straga, purchased by Mr. W. Cooper, Masterton. the next highest was for Sinvis, purchased by F. Ormoml, for ]r>o guineas. In Stallions, King Mark was purchased by J. Ormond for -100 guineas; Ilymettus by W. Cooper, Masterton, for ,')2r> guineas; Birkdale by H. A. Russell, Hastings, for .150 guineas. bay gelding, f> years, was purchased by 11. M. Campbell for guineas, and a bay mare 4 years was purchased by Higgins for 140 guineas. A bay gelding, Aldwych, realised 170 guineas, and ; was purchased by McLaughlin; a filly by ! Demosthenes—Temerinc brought 165*gns., i purchased by Ph. Barrow; a two-year- i old filly by Demosthenes—Marty, 180 guineas, purchased by W. J. Douglas. The top price in yearlings was for n"ilymettus—Straga filly, 400 guineas, purchased by A. McDonald, Masterton
