NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 29. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute the president's address was devoted mainly to emphasising the great importance of scientific research and urging greater encouragement by the Government. The I-leetor Memorial Award Committee unanimously recommended Mr. T. F. Cheesemau asthe recipient of the Hector medal and prize, for research in botany.
