TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the general ..committee of the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society was held at the secretary's office on Saturday. Mr. W. B. Gr.int presided, and there were also present: Messrs A. T. Moore, J. Allen, A. Turnbull, Geo. Colson, A. R. Gudopp, H. Honeyfield, N. W. Hill. C. Dobson, C. Hoskin, H. Benton, Roy Gilbert, A. Lister, W. Hall, C. W. Ruebe, L. Hill, H. Olson, H. C. Sampson, and S. Hodson. Mr. W. Stanley was elected a life member of the society. The resignation of Mr. G. J. Bridge, who ha<l removed from the district, vas received and accepted with regret. Messrs W. Pratt, Bell Block, and E. Vincent, Okato, were appointed members of the general committee. Tho sub-committee appointed to go into the question of number-cloths used by the competitors in the ring events, reported that it had been decided to procure a new set of cloths of a larger size than the original cloths, and it was hoped these would give greater satisfaction.—The action of the committee was approved. The committee appointed to confer with the ladies of tne district, interested in the welfare of the society reported that meetings had been held with the ladies, who had enthusiastically undertaken to do all the catering in connection with the forthcoming show. Correspondence was read from the district manager of railways intimating that no alteration could be made in the running of the trains on the first day of the show, but that on the second day the afternoon train from New Plymouth would be delayed until 4.40, leaving Smart Road at 5 o'clock. The Waifara and Toko trains would be delayed to connect with the afternoon train. It was stated that the executive had replied to the department's notification regretting the decision made as being an inadequate arrangement for the show, and asking that at least a special train he provided from as far south as Hawera. to arrive in New Plymouth on the morning of People's 'Day (Thursday) and returning from New .Plymouth at fi p.m. It was decided to.approach the borough tramways department, asking for as frequent a tram service as possible on the show days, especially on People's Day. The matter of arranging for tent accommodation was left to a sub-commit-tee consisting of Messrs Grant. Connett, and Moore, with power to actMessrs Smith, Longstaff, and T. Luxton were appointed green feed judges for the show.
