SPEECH FROM THE THRONE. THE AALAND ISLAND QUESTION. Stockholm, .Jan. 17. ' A wireless message states that King Gustav, in a speech from the throne, sincerely hoped that the free Finland would co-operate with the other Scandinavian countries in a common effort towards peace and progress. He announced the initiation of negotiations with Finland to settle the Aaland Island question. King Gustav adcled, referring to the difiicultifes of overseas trade, that negotiations were progressing for a resumption under conditions harmonising with Swedish independence and neutrality.
