SATISFACTORY POSITION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christ-church, Jan. 10. Sir Joseph AVard slates that the Dominion revenue for the nine mouths ended December 31 showed an increase of €104,027 compared with the corresponding period of the previous: year, and for the twelve months increased £2! IT.TOO, chiefly through the medium of the land <ux and income tax. The expenditure for the nine months increased £240,137. Wheat purchases accounted for the largest item of increase, iiiul in the ordinary course this would be reduced later or repaid in full. The expenditure under (he Public AA r orks Appropriations decreased during the nine months by £213,263 to £7-22,302 Sir Joseph Ward considered the general position satisfactory, adding that I here is now a greater certainty of a "cnsiderable increase in shipping being available to lift the produce which has been hunt* up in the Dominion for some time.
