. PENALTIES TOTAL £OBS. Auckland, Jan. 4. At the Police Court the following fines were imposed for illegal bookmaking:— Frederick J. Kernott was fined £3O, and Joseph George Rees £3O on each of three charges; John Weston, with previous convictions, was fined £2OO on three charges; George Henry Newton (three cliaiges), £00; Edward fleorge Lowe, £3O: John Martin. £3O; William Charles Stephens, £3O; Dinko Fredolovick, £OO. The fines totalled £6SS.
