THE SEGENHOE STUD SALE. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Sydney, Jan. 4. At the sale of the Scgenhoc Stud. Thana fetched 3000 guineas, Tresseda GOOO guineas, and Piastre 500 guineas. Received Jan. 4, 0 p.m. Sydney, Jan. 4. The Segenhoe stud realised 38,217 guineas. This was the biggest sale since I the late G. G. Stead's sale, nearly ten years ago.
The only one. A Taiiranga paper notified that, on the day of the Bay of Plenty races—the Sth inst.—an extra train would rim from Paengaroa to the Mount and return late in the afternoon. "Whalebone," of the Auckland Star, unearths this fact, and adds: "It may only lie a coincidence that the Bay of Plenty Club was so favored during ' !;c races at l'-m----ranga. which is in the electorate represented by the Hon. W. Herries, Minister of lluilways." Now read the following: "Racing clubs have been told officially that the Railway Department cannot under any circumstances provide special facilities for race meetings during the war, and the clubs are all ptitting up with the inconvenience and loss."
