FIGHTING FOR VICTORY. SUCCESS OF WAR LOAN. MERCANTILE MARINE REQUISITIONED. 1918 CLASS CALLED UP. Aus. and NZ. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. Received Dec' 30, 6.5 p.m. Paris, Dec. 29. ! The war loan subscriptions exceed expectations, totalling £300,000,000, exclusive of foreign contributions. The Chamber of Deputies has empowered the Government to requisition the whole mercantile fleet. The Chamber has decided to call up the 1918 class; It is stated that Germany hag already called up the 1920 class, intending a formidable effort. M. Clemenceau said: "We arc fighting., for victory, and must respond to the actual necessities, without awaiting tlw efforts of our allies." He said that Russia had deserted its duty, and masses of Germans had been transferred to ths West front. He regretted that it was impossible to release the older lighters. BOLSHEVIKS NOT RECOGNISED. i - • P&m, gg - M. Pichon, in the Chamber of Deputies, said it was impossible to enter into official relations with the Bolsheviks, as their latest acts were a violation of their alliance and most sacred international obligations.
