DAIRY PRODUCE EXPORT.
ALLOCATION OF CARGO SPACE. A meeting of a number of dairy factory directors, whose companies are members of the National Dairy Association, was held in New Plymouth on Saturday morning to discuss the position that has arisen in regard to the allocation of space in Home liners. These factories received a circular from the freezing works to the effect that in future they would have to make application for space on their own account (which work had previously been done by the National Dairy Association), and at the same time suggesting that it would be better policy, to become members of that Association. Not being desirous of doing so, a meeting was convened, with the result that a sub-committee was set up to wait on the directors of the freezing works at their next meeting, for the purpose of making a request that they, as representatives of the dairy companies, should make such application and keep the Imperial Supplies Department in touch with the requirements of the Taranaki dairy farmers Exception was strongly taken at the attitude of the freezing works directors in taking up the position of advisers of the companies as to whether they should or should not become members of the National Dairy Association, the opinion being expressed that as the Imperial Government had purchased the whole output of the Dominion, they, and not the National Dairy Association, should allocate pro rata space to all companies.
