THE CONSCRIPTION CAMPAIGN MR. HUGHES AT SHXNEYv MOST ENTHUSIASTIC KECEOTION. Received Dec. IS, 10.40 p.m. j Sydney, Dec. 18. If the reception accorded to Mr. Hughes on his arrival at Sydney is any criterion of the referendum feeling, the Government supporters must have felt highly gratified. Thousands of returned soldiers met Mr. Hughes at the station and carried him shoulder high. There was a remarkable demonstration through the crowded streets, and the speeches were wildly cheered. It was probably the greatest reception Mr. Qugtat lias •reread.
