Winifred Carrick appeared in th# Magistrate's Court this morning on a charge of the wilful murder of the child Donald Lewis Carriek, but, on the application of tho police, a further remand wa» granted till Friday, INCIPIENT FIRE OK VESSEL. ' Auckland, Dm. IS. The fire brigade was called at 1 o'clock Ihis morning and found a heap of straw in an empty hatch alight. The Htm were speedily extinguished and no d&jn aee was caused to tho vessel.
