BOROUGH BUS SERVICE.
SUB-COMMITTISE'S RKJFOttT. The sub-committee appointed but weeM to consider the question of tbe purchase of an Electric bus, reported to last night's meeting of the council as follows; 1. That oae Model "L" 20-22 passenger electric chassis, complete with Edison battery (type A 8 with 6* cells), but without body, be purchased from Messrs A. R. Harris and Co., for the sum of C 1225 delivered at borough store, New Plymouth, subject to specifications, conditions of contract, etc., being approved by the electrical and tramways engineer. 2. That an extra Edison battery (type A 8 with (14 cells) be purchased from Messrs A. R. Harris and Co., for the Bum of £4OO delivered at borough stores, New Plymouth, the council, in addition, to pay freight and insurances from Christcbwch to New Plymouth. 3. That the electrical and tnunwaya engineer, upon receipt of information that the chassis has been shipped, be •authorised to proceed with the following: (a)-. Construction of a body Cm-the. chassis, and design to be first'approved by this committee. (b) Installation of a chargW.«et,ie» charging the battery of the truck, mme to be capable of changing at festal tour trucks at one time. (c) The erection of a shed for housing the motor bus and other vehicle* sent to be charged (site and design of building to be approved by this com, mittee). 4. That the motor service for) the Mb' urban areas when established be treated us a separate undertaking, and be under the control of the electrical and tram ways engineer. On the motion of Cr. Clarke, seconded by Cr. Hayden, the report was afepted, with the proviso that the items coritafeed in clauses b and c of section 3 be a ebnao against the electric lighting departaont.
