HARBOR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Harbor Board was held yesterday. There were present: Messrs Newton King (chairman), E, Maxwell, J. McCluggagc, J. S. Connett, C. McGuiness and D. J. Hughes. Apologies for absence were received from Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., E. Dockrill, and C. E. /Bellringer. HARBORMASTER'S REPORT. The harbormaster (Captain Waller) reported that for the four weeks ending December 8 24 vessels had entered the port, the aggregate tonnage of which had been 30,288. The imports amounted to 7701 tons and the exports to 1857 tons, a tonnage handled of 0645. There had been landed 433 tons of Government coal. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT. The superintendent of works'reported that the dredge Paritutu had worked 21 days,, the total hours worked being 190. A total of 2-1,800 tons of spoil had been removed in 02 loads as follows: From tlie 2S-foot outer channel cut, 31 loads with the buckets and «ight with the (-limps in 134 hours; and from the third, fairway cut inside the breakwater, six loads with the buckets and 17 with the pump in 02 hours. The third cross channel cut is now completed and the fourth was starced on the Bth inat. Dredging was stopped for three days owing to a heavy south-east gale. Tlie dredge Thomas King worked on 20 days for «, total of 173 hours arid removed 10,320 tons of spoil in 129 loads. Dredging was stopped for three days on account of heavy weather, and on one day for repairs. Twenty-two chafing pieces have been renewed at the east side* of the wharf; 100 yards of gravel have been lifted from Mikotahi inlet and the flagstaff reserve lias been cleared of blackberry and gorso.
