THE THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY.

THEOSOPHICAL LKCTURU, •}UBtIHU3.VOn On Friday night in tho Central Dining Rooms, Hawera. IMiss Christie. National lecturer for the Theosophical Society, delivered tlie fourth of lier course of lectures to a very appreciative audience. She stated that recent events in New Zealand rather contradict our expressions of belief. For instance: We hear that upon the battlefield of Mons, angels turned the tide of battle ir. favor of the Allies; that on several other occasions the Christ was seen tending and comforting the wounded and dying soldiers, and was visible to so many that ITe received the name of "The Comrade in White.'' The Russians saw Sjt. Nicholas, the French Joan of Arc, the English St. George. Yet when these stories find their way to the newspapers, what follows? Denials from every direction, even from the religious teachers and clergy. Thus the hop? and comfort that for a time eased the pain and gladdened the hoarts of parents, wives, sisters and sweethearts, is in many cases killed, and (h'c old sadness, fear of ridicule and o f being unorthodox and superstitious settles down upon those who were beginning to hope that angels, and other spiritual helpers might still in times of zrent sorrow and peril become visible to God's earth-bound children as in the days when the Bible was written. Theosophy says that your mind is part of >"!od ! s mind, and your thoughts clothe themselves in mental matter and become visible. When thus clothed we call them thought forms. (I have seen them, so T know). The angels of Moris were made by the prayers and loving thoughts of Christian people all over the world. We thus made the bodies or vehicles, and these could be used by spiritual beings much sooner and with greater ease than if they had had to create the forms as well as ensoul them. All on either side who prayed that the right would triumph helped to make those angels, and turn the tidij. of battle in favor of the Allies. Our prayers are often answered in unexpected ways. The patron saints of the different nations were created in the sin me way—by the thoughts, love and prayers of soldiers and of tho«e who loved them and their country, and these thought forms were used bv great angels. or other disrarnate beings, to put courage into the hearts of tired and weary men The Comrade in White—why not the Christ?—the World Teacher Himself. To a. Theosophist this is quite natural and to be expected. I believe He was there often and that Tie also rreated manv thought forms of Tlimse'f and filled them with comfort and power to help the wounded and dving. You can create a guardian angel for your boy at the front, or f or anyone whom von love, and if while creating it you think of the Christ as helping you, you "touch the hem of "His garment" in the crowd and virtue fjovs from TTim and makes your thought form a power to oroteet. "Thoughts are things'' and man is pre-eminently a thinker. His thoughts sooner or later become visible :n his bodilv characteristics, his environment and his companions.
