CHARGE OF ATTEMPTED MURDER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, Last Night. At the police court, William Albert Harry was charged with attempted murder, by shooting David Kernohan, a miner at Huntly, on November 2. Both were young men. Kernohan stated he was boarding with accused, and after a friendly talk accused secured a gun and fired point blank, the shot entering witness' right shoulder, and he has been an inmate of the Waikato hospital ever since. There \va s no provocation. Dr. Douglas, superintendent of the hospital, stated that the wound was very serious, one arm being permanently disabled. ! Constable Farr stated that accused came to the police station saying: "I shot Dave Kernohan for violating my wife. I had no sleep for nine nights, I but am satisfied now." On going to the house, Kernohan said: "Harry shot me." Accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial at the Supreme Court. No bail was allowed.
