DEBT COLLECTING DODGE.
RESULTS IX REFORMATIVE TREATMENT. Dunedin, Dec. i. At the Police Court Rowland P. Beate was charged with the theft of six sums cf money totalling £l2 las. The accused started a debt-collecting agency in August, and obtained a number of debts to collect from shopkeepers, doctors, lawyers and others, but failed to account for the in one v.
The Magistrate made an order for the detention of accused for reformative treatment tor a period not exceeding three vears.
