NEW PLYMOUTH STREETS.
THE COMMITTEE'S REPORT The streets sub-committee submitted a report to -Monday night's meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council as follows: That the Borough Kityiliecr be authorised lo proce.'d. with the following works:— v Dawson street (Powderham to Devon). Bcarifyiiig, etc., £7B 12s lid, tarring 12tt, OM 12s; Dawson street (Powderham to Fulford). tarring, £0:1 ISs; Powderham street (Curric to Brougham), tarring 12ft, £39 12s ; Powderham street (Brougham to Robe)' tarring, £62 Ms, reforming, etc., £23 12s Od; Powderham street (Silver to Dawson), tarring. £-15 ISs; Wallace Place (Stamlish Hill to Tukapa road), tarring 12ft. £132; Liardet street (Devon to Coiirtcnav), tairinar, £l2O 10s fid: tbtnl £GOS IDs 2d. That of the above the cost of the work authorised in Powderham street amounting to £l7l IBs !)d be charged to the £-10,0(10 loan and the cost of the other work to the general account. That application be made to the 'Minister of internal Affairs for permission to use the unexpended balance of the £ooflo loan in the following works:— Avenue road £7">7 25,. Carrington road £505 Rs. Eliot, street (tarring) £224 Ss, Franklev road £704 Kls, Tukapa road £SR7 (is; total £280!) 4s fid.
That in the event of the Minister approving. of the above works the npcessarv special order be passed authorising (he work tr> be done. After com" desultory discussion as to the merits of various materials for surface making in connection with road maintenance the committee's report was approved.
