THE TURKS APATHETIC. PREFER BRITISH TO GERMANS. Received Nov, 30, 10 p.m. Times Service. London, Nov. 29. General Bailloud, from Palestine, states tlio Turks are apathetic, counting on the. British to rid them of German guardianship.'' At daybreak, before Gafca, a Turkish general jumped the trenehos, •followed by ah orderly, and entered the British lines. He explained that the Dardanelles taught him to appreciate hi* adversaries. Later, in ißoumania, his division would not co-operate with the Germans. His corps, lost 12,000 out of Ni.ooo, while the Germans lost about a dozen. ' He considered his best course now was to preserve his life in the interests of Turkey, instead of stupidly sacrificing it for Germany's advance.
