BOWLING.
NEW PLYMOUTH v. FITZROY. At Fitzroy yesterday, in spite-of tlw 'ugh wind and ceaseless rain, a si.v rink patriotic match was played between the (ibove clubs. Under the circumstances it was not surprising that accuracy of play was more the exception than the rule, as umbrellas and raincoats, n driving rain, and tricky wind all contributed to spoil even scoring. However, each player was contributing to the patriotic funds, so that it was only fitting there should be sacrifices rather than°enj«yment. The visitors badly defeated tile local club by 140 to 10C. Scores are as follow, New Plymouth being mentioned first in each rink: " T. Averv, J. Hill, Burgess, Luscombe fs.) 18, v. Oxinham, Gillespie, Din<de Zealand (s.) 23. " ' Hooker, .Tenkinson, Firth, IT Smart(s.) 20, v. Healy, Cannell, Brooker Price 10. ' " Rundle. Clianey, Woollett, Hall (s.) 53, v. Waldock, Hammond, Jackson Chivers (s.) 12.
