IMPORTANT CAPTURES. ENEMY CLEARED FROM THE NORTH Reuter Service. Capetown, Nov. 19. We have taken Techiwata and Upiti, with important captures: We have secured a footing on the Makonde Plateau. Heavy firing is proceeding on the southwestern edge of the Makonde Plateau. _ Three hundred Askaris surrendered at Ndanda, where the Germans abandoned a big field hospital. Numbers of Askaris have deserted to us. The northern theatre is now clear of the enemy. THE DRIVE CONTINUES. PRISONERS OF WAR RELEASED. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. Received Nov. 21, 12.20 a.m. London, Nov. 20. East Africa official.- The enemy rearguard has been expelled from its defensive position eastward and southeast of Chiwata. A number of Indian and African prisoners of war were released.
