STORY OF THE SEA. A RESOURCEFUL WIRELESS OPERATOR. London, Nov. 14. A remark-able story was revealed in the Prize Court. Tlie steamer Mazatlan, flying the Mexican flag, attempted to send a wireless message to the cruiser Leipzig containing details of the saillings and positions of British ships. The schemo was defeated by the resourcefulness of Smith, an English wireless operator on board, who secretly .put the wireless out of tune and altered the wave length whenever the German operator was going on duty. Smith occasionally communicated with the Leipzig, in case she should guess tho wireless was wrong. On one occasion the captain ordered Smith to send a code message to the Leipzig and when Smith refused, as a Briton, the Martian's officers' threatened to shoot him. Smith then pretended to send the message and worked the keys so that sparks were seen. Finally the British captured the Maswtlnn off the Falkland Islands. THE WEEK^LOSSES.
